When you learn guitar it’s better not just to study the proper techniques but also to make it a bit more fun and get to play as many songs as possible. There are a number of easy songs that have become famous classics and every guitar player should be able to play them.

The first song that I usually teach my beginner students at my site “Lezioni Di Chitarra Moderna” is “Stand By Me”. I cannot remember the composer right now but I presume everybody knows the track very well anyway. The nice thing about this song is that uses a single turn around (I VI IV V) for the whole song while the melody is different in the different sections. The same progression is used in many songs so once you learn it you will be able to play more than just one song. Some of the titles that come to mind are “Il Cielo In Una Stanza”, “Baby Baby”, “I Believe I can Fly” just to name a few.

In our quest for easy guitar songs we cannot forget Bob Dylan. This artist wrote a large number of great songs using few simple chords, selling an insane amount of records and having many popular artist (Jimi Hendrix – Guns & Roses to name a few) covering his songs. Some of the tracks you should be learning are “Knocking on Heaven’s Door”, “Blowing In The Wind” and “All Along The Watch Tower”.

If you are looking for easy songs than you should start looking at British boy bands and the number one is the Beetles. They really have written many hits some of which are actually not that easy to play. Some of the track I suggest you learn are “Hey Jude”, “Let It Be”, “Here Come The Sun” and “Yesterday”. Their music is not always that easy and they do use more complicated chords, so you better know your chords my friend!

U2 and Cold Play are also very famous British bands with a very simple approach on writing. If you look carefully you will find plenty easy guitar songs in their repertoire you can practice. Some of the most famous tracks are: Where The Streets Have No Name, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Clocks, Viva La Vida.

These are some title you can start with but look around and you’ll find many easy songs you can learn to play guitar. Hope this is going to help you!
