How To Know You’ve Found Successful Weight Loss Information

Before embarking on any sort of weight loss effort you must consult your physician. It may sound like a cliche, but it is necessary. Some overweight individuals have an illness that may have caused – or been a result of – their excess weight.

After you check-out as “okay” – your doctor has run the proper tests – you can begin. Don’t just think about exercising – do it. You have to want to lose weight to succeed with your efforts. If you “think” you “should” lose a few pounds – forget it! You have to want it badly to acquire success.

Don’t buy pills. Don’t use drugs. What you need doesn’t require a large outlay of cash. You may wish to join a gym or buy a treadmill. That’s fine, but you don’t have to have these things if you can’t afford them. You do need good food though. This is an absolute must. Good food and regular exercise are not things that may be a good idea – they are the two most important things you must have – and do – to lose unsightly fat.

Many overweight people go on diets. They read-about the latest success story of a celebrity who used “Diet XYZ”. This is nonsense. Get it out of your head. You should never diet. You must eat well all the time. Eating well for a while – what dieting is – is no good! You must eat well for the rest of your life – every day, from now on. Read about what is good for you and what is not. Fruits should be eaten with vegetables several times a day. You need protein – read about how much you should have to properly feed your body with nutrition and fuel – without adding extra calories that will be stored as fat.

Eating properly from now on is not enough. Exercising every single day is absolutely essential. If you miss a day here and there, it isn’t the end of your efforts. But you must treat exercising as seriously as you might treat breathing! Breathing is a “must” to survive. Exercising is also a “must”. It’s regularly reported – by those who exercise regularly – that a natural “high” often follows a good working-out. This is an added bonus you can look forward-to each time you exercise.

To burn fat while exercising, you must reach – what is well documented – as your target heart rate; or THR. You will find charts online and in books which you can use to determine your personal THR. A slow walk will not succeed in shedding weight. An example of a target heart rate for a 35 year-old – focusing on burning body fat – is 111 to 130 beats per minute. This should be sustained, not simply reached. Continued exercise at this targeted rate should be done for at least 20 minutes – and preferably 30 minutes to an hour each day.

You must tone your muscles. Fat can be “burned”, muscles can be “toned”. To get anything close to a six-pack, you need to exercise these muscles with light weights. You needn’t worry about becoming a huge bodybuilder by lifting weights. Toning requires several sets of a dozen or more repetitions of light weights, to tighten and acquire a nice tight body. This not only looks great, it helps to naturally burn fat. “Lean muscle mass” is proven to assist with burning fat and keeping it off.

By knowing what to eat and how to exercise, you will have what you need to get started and continue with your efforts. You can’t get fit by ingesting magic herbs. Some drugs have damaged peoples organs – even killed them. You need information. The more, the better. Filter-out what is hype and nonsense and use the basic known methods for success. The body you were designed to have – your preprogrammed DNA has done this for you – will be what you get as a result of training, toning and eating properly from this day forward.
