Wheeling Through High School

Every student wants to be accepted, but different and distinguished in his or her own way. There is great diversity in high school. There are so many different cultures, religious beliefs, and even disabilities.
The greatest difference to get over is the disabilities. It really sets the disabled students apart and limits their activity level. There are things that disabled students can do to remain active and involved.
The world has so many disabilities in it. There are various medical tools that are available to help disabled individuals gain back a quality life style. A scooter or wheelchair is one tool that can help individuals take back some of their independence.
The scooter is also the most common thing used in high schools. It is a great tool to use to get through a crowded hallway while traveling to class. Students also have an extra hand to hold onto their books.
The scooter can also be used in sports. There are many sports that have been altered to allow the players to play in wheelchairs. Some of these sports include basketball, tennis, and baseball.
It is not wise for individuals in wheelchairs or scooters to go up and down stairs. There are ramps and elevators provided in many schools to provide safe passage for these students. It also allows them to have access to all of the building and not just one certain area.
Disabled individuals can still live their lives even though they are disabled in some way. They can work around their disability instead of running from it. The use of a wheelchair is one way of working around or with a disability to gain back some independence.
