Fats Hiding Away In Foods You Thought Were Healthy

Everyone wants to be thin and drop the pounds these days, which is a good thing. But if we don’t pay attention to what is in the food we are eating, this may not be successful. There are hidden fats in a lot of unsuspecting food items.

For quite some time now, health professionals and researches have known the benefits of eating fish. Fish can offer benefits to our health because it is high in omega-3 fatty acids.

Sushi rolls may contain things like cream cheese or mayonnaise, making them unhealthy. But sushi can actually be a good meal, depending on the type and what comes in it.

Fish that is battered or fried are another unhealthy choice when maintain a healthy diet. If you stick with the basic sushi rolls or sashimi, you will have made a better decision.

Certain snacks like dried fruit have added sugar and are less healthy than if you were to eat fresh fruit. Adding sugar to dried fruits also adds calories.

Granola is known to be a good source of oats and it curbs your appetite, but it also contains added sugar when it is prepackaged. Once again, added sugars turn into more calories and fat, thus turning an enjoyable snack into a not so healthy one. Try making your own granola at home with oatmeal, honey and fruit.

Veggie burgers are an example of a food item that is supposed to be healthy but contains hidden fats.

Granted they don’t have the fat and cholesterol that a meat burger does, but they do have more calories when the dressing that holds the vegetables together and cheese is added. Just make sure to eat them in moderation.

Make sure to note what your meal items contain and that should lead to more healthy decisions.
