How To Protect Leather Handbags And Purses

There is no woman around that does not own a handbag or purse. It is a very important accessory that a woman cannot live without. But purses and handbags, like all other possessions we have need to be taken care of so that it will last longer. This is very true especially with leather handbags and purses.

In storing handbags made of leather, you need to use bags which are breathable so that molds cannot form and ruin the look of your handbag. Banana peel is a good thing to use for cleaning your handbag or purse. Just rub the inside of the banana peel to the handbag or purse and then wipe or buff with a soft cloth.

When not in use, handbags should be stuffed with tissue paper so that they will maintain their shape. You can replace the tissues with any material like gloves or scarves that you don’t wear during summer. Remember to also air your handbag out once a while to prevent mold from forming on your handbags.

To make your leather handbag shiny, you can rub olive oil on it followed by a buff with a soft cloth. Olive oil is also ideal to use on hardened and brittle leather handbags.

To care for cloth handbags, store them in plastic wrap to prevent moths from getting in and destroying the cloth. Like the leather handbags, purses made with fabric also need to be cleaned regularly. A well cared for handbag will go a long way and you will enjoy using it if it retains its original beauty.

There is one thing you need to remember though, do not place your handbag on the floor. You must know that floors are very dirty and putting your handbag on it can be harmful as there are a lot of bacteria that can be transferred to your handbag.
