Fashion is something that impacts on all our lives, but very few people actually know that much about the top designers who influence the trends that we follow. This is why we’ve put together this guide to look at some of the most famous fashion designers of 2011 and their key achievements. One really popular designer right now is Issa. Based in London, Camilla al Fayed has just bought a controlling stake in this designer, who is increasingly popular thanks to her royal fan, the Duchess of Cambridge.
Now we come to another ‘Royal connection’ and Alexander McQueen. He may have sadly passed away in 2010 but the designer’s fashion house is still going strong, with Sarah Burton – the creative director of Alexander McQueen – designing Kate Middleton’s wedding dress in 2011. That move catapulted an already popular designer into the limelight. Alexander McQueen is known for memorable prints and patterns as well as statement pieces that get heads turning. The designs also feature a blend of modernity and classic style for a timeless look.
Donatella Versace is another top 2011 fashion designer. The house of Versace has long been one of the most popular and most famous brands in the world, but now the label is becoming even more relevant; Donatella Versace has recently been revealed as designing clothes for high street label H&M. Those designs are sure to be a hot ticket for a brand that is never far from the limelight. The current Versace collection is full of clean tailoring and bright summer colors, along with some sensational evening wear.
Newer designers are also set to be huge throughout 2011 and one of those new designers is Dion Lee. He is an Australian designer and is only 24 years old, which is very impressive when you consider what a stir his most recent shows have been making in the fashion world. Considered to be one of the best designers to come out of Australia for a long time, it seems safe to say he’s going to continue on to bigger and more amazing things as time passes.
Lastly we come to a designer called Emilio de la Morena. He describes the type of woman who wears his clothes to be ‘strong and modern’, and that’s certainly something that comes across in his designs. The designer is originally from Spain but works a lot in London. His Spanish background comes through in his designs, which are often quite ornate and have the effect of appearing to be moving sculptures – this is definitely a designer to watch in the coming months and years.
